So, here we are at last weekend's Junior League Gala--The James Bond Experience

So, my own personal extreme makeover has begun.

Next week, I am finally going to get laser eye surgery. I'm really nervous about it but I'm also excited. I just hope nothing goes wrong.

It is also time to fix my teeth. I've already had braces twice and it looks like I'm headed for the third time. I am not a candidate for Invisilign because my teeth are so bad. So, I guess I will have metal braces AGAIN at 30 years old. This is kind of a difficult decision because if Gary and I get married next summer as planned, I'm going to have to figure out what to do. Looks like we'll have to take them off just for the wedding. Sigh.

I have also started Weight Watchers and I'm getting ready to begin again on a regular exercise plan. I'm tired of carrying all this weight around. If only I didn't love food so much.

So, this is the beginning. We'll see what happens. I figure turning 30 is a good time for a physical overhaul.

Some of you may be familiar with my friend Heather's band, the Heather Combs Band. I have been known to hand out their CDs to anyone who shows any interest. Well, most of their instruments and equipment were stolen from their truck recently. The band members had had some of these instruments for years. They can't exactly go out and buy new ones and currently they don't even have instruments to practice with yet alone use for their concert dates. They are such a great group of creative, kind and generous people. I feel terrible for them. If you'd like to help, follow the link to the Heather Combs band at right. I know they would all greatly appreciate it.

Heather *may* come to Colorado eventually and do a house show at my home and I'm sure she'd thank you in person when she got here.

If I can help it, I will never go in a Walmart again. I don't know how it is where you live but the Walmarts here are awful! I had to go to Walmart because they were the only ones carrying a line of products that I needed. I couldn't find the stuff. Then, I couldn't find anyone to help me. Then, the employees were rude and ignorant. And out of about 25 lanes, only two were open. I thought it might just be that one Walmart, but I drove to another one and experienced the same thing.

And that doesn't even include my experience with the customers! I watched people at both Walmarts use language with their children that made me blush and even smacked their kids right there! These people were just downright trashy!

And then there are all the horrible things I've read about how Walmart treats its employees. Especially women.

That's it! No more Walmart!

I know I haven't written in awhile. I 've been sick and busy with various things. And I haven't had a lot to say.

But I have good news to share today.

Last night, I was voted onto the Board of Directors for the Young Fund of the Children's Hospital Foundation. It's a group of young professionals supporting the Children's Hospital. As a Board member, I will be chairing the Volunteer Opportunities committee. So far, I've been helping to coordinate a bedtime storytime at the hospital. We hope to add more opportunities in the future. I'm really excited about it. It is helping me to get one step closer to my goal of working in a nonprofit.
