Reunion (with food)

I went to my 10-year college reunion last weekend in San Antonio. I actually didn't spend much time at the reunion. I decided I would rather bum around San Antonio and see what has changed. And eat lots of good Tex-Mex food. Gosh, I miss Texas food. I stuffed myself silly. I found this article today over at Homesick Texan and it made me evern hungrier for Tex-Mex! I am constantly searching for a good cheese enchilada with rice and beans here in California. So far, I haven't found it.

Besides eating, I got to visit lots of museums in San Antonio including the new Museo Alameda which is just wonderful. We also attended a Branford Marsalis concert which was great. Since we went to the concert, I had to cut my attendance at the reunion reception short. It felt like I didn't recognize anyone! But I did see a lot of great people and did a little catching up. And I had brunch with my buddies Sonya, Melanie and Suni on Sunday morning at our old favorite haunt, Madhatter's.

I miss Texas a lot. I'd love to live there again. But my husband refuses to leave California. Oh, well. Guess I'll have to plug along in wine country. (without decent Mexican food!!!)

I am sorry that I missed it! It sounds like you had fun.

(ps try finding decent Mexican food in Belgium. They don't even really eat cheddar cheese or sour cream here!)

Wow Vieve! I can only imagine. You probably do better with the culture shock than I would!

I never said I would not leave California , though I cannot imagine why we should. What I did say is I would never live in Texas.

Precision please.

It sounds like you had a fun weekend. I'm glad you got to see some of your old buddies.

The museum looks interesting - I wish they had a little more info on their website. What a cool building!

I thought Tex-Mex was something non-Texas states (e.g. Colorado) made up. Is "Texas" Tex-Mex better than the stuff you'll find in Colorado? I'm guessing probably so.

I never thought that I would be back in Texas--you never know what will happen. (And my husband has adjusted wonderfully.) I still am recovering from many years without Tex Mex!

Glad you had a great time and lots of wonderful food. I need to get to San Antonio soon.
