Paid Forward

I did it! I did my first random act of kindness today. I was sitting in the drive-thru at Starbucks and decided to go for it and pay for the woman behind me. The Starbucks guy looked really confused. He asked me if I knew the woman. I said, "No. Just tell her to have a nice day and pay it forward." I hope it was a nice surprise for her. In this day and age, I think people are sometimes suspicious of acts like that. I hope it didn't freak her out. And I hope she will go out and do something nice for someone else.

I'm with Hiphostess - that was very cool (and pretty brave, I would add!). Being conscious of other people and their happiness does a lot to develop our own awareness. I'm curious - how did you feel afterward?

Hiphostess--Thank you! I love your blog and I read it every day!

Gary-- I was a little nervous. I didn't want her to think I was a crazy person. I tried to peek in my rearview mirror to see her reaction but I couldn't. I just hope it brightened her day. Maybe I'll do it again soon. I think it works best in that drive-thru situation.

What a cool thing to do! I'll have to try that. I'm sure it would really freak people out, and yet it could easily make someone's day. :)

I read about your Paid Forward experiment on Hostess blog and really commend you on doing something so simple, and yet so profoundly meaningful. Thank you for inspiring me to pay it forward!
